Text Area
A multi-line text field for longer customer messages, notes, or instructions.
When to use
- Gift message or special delivery instructions
- Custom poem or longer quote for a personalized product
- Detailed notes from the customer to you
- Any multi-line free-form text
For short, single-line entries, use Text Input.
General settings

| Internal name | Only visible in your admin dashboard — customers never see it. |
| Required | Customer must enter text before adding to cart |
| Hide label | Hides the label |
| Help text | Short guidance below the field |
| Placeholder | Hint text inside the textarea |
| Default value | Pre-fills the textarea |
Text constraints
| Setting | Description |

| Min length | Minimum number of characters |
| Max length | Maximum number of characters. A live counter is shown on the storefront. |
| Allow value | Any characters (default), Letters only, or Letters and numbers |
Text transform

Prefix / Suffix
| Setting | Description |

| Prefix | Display text before the textarea (less common for textarea than for single-line inputs) |
| Suffix | Display text after the textarea |

Storefront behavior
- Displays as a resizable multi-line text box
- Live character counter when min/max length is set
- Text transform applied as the customer types
- Customer can drag the corner to resize the textarea
- The customer’s answer is recorded on the order.
